Pink and whimsical this wedding was a summer time treat! Be inspired and enjoy the breathtaking views of Down East Maine....

Denise and Brian chose to marry at John Peter's Estate... They went with a pink wedding with gold accents, whimsical and romantic....

They were married by the shore in the woods with a touching and loving ceremony...,
then Denise and Brian treated their gift to cocktail hour with ice cream bar, sundae bar & popcorn.... signature drinks with polka dot straws...  Next guests moved up to the reception tent,  for dinner, and dancing to the Portland Based Band Time Pilots... Finally, after the dinner and dancing... guest moved to the after party tent that glowed pink for an after party.

So, we all know how much work goes into making sure a wedding day is perfect, don't we?  Every vendor in the industry has had to duck and cover at some point, proving that an event day is really more of a production than anything else.  As long as everyone behind the scenes has the same goal in mind, which should be creating a seamless and stress-free event for the couple and their guests, everyone will have a good time and walk away feeling like the day was ultimately a success.

Sweetest Thing takes great pride in knowing and respecting each and every one of the vendors that we work with.  We understand that they are bringing a talent or skill to the table that makes their contributions to an event invaluable.  Our job is to help couples bring each of these artists and/or craftspeople together to facilitate a shared vision.  We wouldn't be doing our job well if we micromanaged or unnecessarily criticized the way an expert does a job we surely couldn't do ourselves.  We are thankful for the presence and cooperation of every vendor that helps make an event everything a couple dreamed.

In theater, if someone forgets a line, it is important that no one in the audience pick up on it, which means that one of two things needs to happen.  The first is that the actor think fast enough to just keep going.  The second is that someone else on stage thinks fast enough to save the day and just keep going.  The end result is the same; JUST KEEP GOING!  Remember that you are now part of a team of players and the best way to showcase your talent is to work well with others.

Sure, we know that sometimes hiccups happen.  We may occasionally run into folks who are not as easy to work with as we'd hoped, or maybe the couple didn't choose a vendor we recommended.  That stinks, but doesn't it behoove everyone, most especially the bride and groom, to just roll with the punches and stick to whatever it is YOU do best?  In the end, your willingness to work as part of a team and check your ego at the door will only serve to make you look like the stellar professional we know you are!

So, Here's What You Missed...

I don't know how many of you out there are Glee fans, but I just freakin' love that show.  All I have to do is hear that opening line followed by the speedy pace of the recap and I am in the zone.  We have done a horrible job at keeping you all up to date on the happenings of the Real Maine Wedding of the Year, so I'm going to catch you up to speed, Glee style.

So, here's what you missed...

Alyssa and Nick met at Gifford's Ice Cream right before Alyssa started college at Colby College, where Nick was already a student.  They fell madly in love and decided to get married.  They submitted a video of their story to the Real Maine Weddings Contest and won a totally outrageous Real Maine Wedding!

The whirlwind began with a trip to Sweetest Thing Studio in Bangor where we showed them three different moodboards based on their style and preferences.  It was voted on by all of you lovelies, and this is the one that won:

Romantic theme.  Color palette of pink, purple, robin's egg blue.  Pedestal vessels, stalk, David Austin roses, Anemones, hydrangea. 

Then, Nick and Alyssa went to pick out their stationery.  After spending an epic afternoon at Papier Gourmet in Portland, they narrowed their choices to their three favorite, and this is the one that won (don't worry, the colors will be changed to fit the mood board colors):

Following was a day of dress shopping and cake tasting.  Cake designs haven't yet been put up to a vote, but we can assure you it will be as beautiful as it will delicious.  Jessica Parrott of Nothing Bakes Like A Parrott is nothing short of amazing.  Keep an eye out for voting on her creations.  Do these not look absolutely delicious?
