For Leslie and David

Leslie and David are getting married in Rangeley Maine, on August 23, 2008. Rangeley is a special place for them as David's family owns a home on the lake, and they vacation there every year. They are getting married at the Loon Lodge and are desiring a look of rustic elegance. This consists of lanterns, herbs and, of course, her one "demand" gardenias. I can't wait for her to see her vision flourish. Leslie has been a doll to work with and really deserves a Sweet wedding.

The pictures above are some of my inspiration.

Some wedding planner advice: Create an inspiration board. You ask, "what is that?" An inspiration board is a scrap book or bulletin board that displays the overall look you want for your wedding. This could be nautical, rustic elegance, or a color, just find pictures that jumps out at you. Cut them out and tape them to a piece of poster board, or put them in a scrapbook. Look at everything, flowers, lightening, colors, dresses, paint chips from home depot. Then bring your inspiration board or notebook of paper with you when you meet vendors. Then they will "see" your vision. Remember most vendors: florists, bakers, wedding planners are artists, we are visual people. You as the bride wants us vendors to create visual assets for your weddings. Whether it be bouquets, centerpieces, cake, your inspiration board will help us "read your mind".

Cake!

I was talking to Leslie tonight about her cake. The photo below to the left. So now I am craving cake. So I wanted to show you some of my favorite cakes. The cake below is one designed by my favorite cake guys for a baby shower I did for my best friend. They are debuting a new bakery in an old bank in Skowhegan, Maine. Their shop is called Bankery. Such a cute name. Matthew and Mike are more the bakers, they are true artists. I am so excited for them to start up on their own. They love challenges and are true perfectionists. Oh and by the way their cakes are sooooo good. I love them. I want to have a piece of chocolate cake with butter cream frosting and a tall glass of milk. Man, now I am really hungry. If you are looking for an amazing cake email Matthew and Mike at thebankery@gmail.com. They will be getting a website up soon and I will let you know when it is up.
As for the cake above, it is from Anya and Clint's wedding. They had their wedding September 8, 2007 at the Bar Harbor Regency. They were such a fun couple. Anya 's cake was so stunning with orchids and dots. The orchids were also in the centerpieces, bouquets, and pew decor. The lime green orchids worked well with the pink roses. It gave the wedding a tropical feel, even though we were in the Northeast. They made their wedding so personal and fun. I laughed so hard all night by their one liners and love for each other. After cake was cut I was even pulled onto the dance floor by the bride and groom....I am still puzzled that they heard the song, "brick house" and thought of me. Oh well, I will take it as a compliment! More pictures from their fabulously fun wedding coming soon!

Happy 1st Anniverary Sara and Drew!

Sara and Drew are spending their 1st anniversary with their new baby girl Alice. I can't believe it has been a year since I worked with this amazing couple and their family. I love working with families like the Sennetts' when you are done you feel like you are one of them. Sara had her dream wedding, a winter wedding. The room was filled with birch trees and snowflakes. Sara looked amazing and Drew was so happy! These two had the most amazing love story and really are two hearts that became one.

They have three beautiful children: Madison,
Hope and Baby Alice....poor Drew, surrounded by women!!! Sara's Mom and Dad are amazing, I loved them and how much they loved their children. My favorite memory was when Sara came out to see her father all dressed up, he started to cry and told her how beautiful she was, it was so precious! I cried so hard I barely got them down the aisle. Planning this wedding was a riot, Sara's mom is one of the funniest and kindest woman I have ever met. Happy Anniversary Sara and Drew!!! I hope you had an amazing year, and I miss hanging out at the kitchen table with you and your crazy, wonderful, loving family! Your wedding is a sweet memory in my mind!! Especially your dance moves Drew! This Picture is taken by one of my all time favorite photographers, Audra Welton. Her photo journalist style blows me away, the way she sees things is amazing, she is an amazing artist and friend.

Welcome to my Blog!

Well, thanks to my great friend Sam Depoy-Warren. I have decided to start a blog. Where do I begin? I love weddings, they are precious, and sweet. They energize me. I love sharing the moment with two people who love each other so much that they commit themselves to each other in front of their closest friends and family.
Weddings are joyful for all who attend. It is time for family to rejoice, and friends to reunite. This is one of my favorite weddings in Harpswell, Maine. I love this picture because it shows how weddings bring out so much love. I will keep posting my weddings and inspiration. If you want me to blog about anything, let me know.... I will also revisit the weddings of the past. So my Married brides can see their day on my blog...can't leave anyone out. This photo is by Christy Murray. She is an amazing photographer.
